What is floating?

Floating is simple and profound, simply by taking two showers and laying down in the float spa you will be stopping the world in a way that will relax your brain to its optimal level.

Floating will increase creativity, allow you to focus more clearly and put you in a better mood. Floating is used for anxiety reduction, PTSD and healing traumatic brain injury. Why not take the plunge and float; you have nothing to lose but stress and muscle tension.

In today's fast moving high-tech environment we are inundated with data, images, and endless forms of stimulation. Floating in a Epsom salt floatation tank for as little as one hour allows you to remove yourself from this stimulation. The result is a rejuvenation of body and mind that will reinvigorate you and help bring balance to your world.

Lack of appropriate sleep negatively effects brain function and has been linked to everything from ulcers and depression to heart disease and cancer. Floatation therapy is a form of "Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy" (R.E.ST.) and can help you make up for that lack of sleep that far too many of us experience on a regular basis. One hour of floating in the tank or float spa is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. You will leave the floatation tank relaxed, rested, refreshed and feeling great.

Floaters often mention the peaceful and euphoric feelings they experience after exiting the Epsom salt float tank. These effects can last from a few days to an entire week after your float.

LETTING GO OF ALL OF YOUR SENSES.

RESTING YOUR BODY.

EXPLORING YOUR MIND AND SOUL.

How it works.

During a float, you step into a quiet, warm, private spa called a float tank and lay back in 10 inches of water in which 800 lbs of Epsom salts have been dissolved. The water is denser than the Dead Sea, so you will float right on top—we promise! You will be fully supported, and you will expend no physical energy to stay afloat. The water is kept at a constant temperature of between 94.5 and 95.5 degrees, which feels warm at first but soon becomes almost imperceptible. When you choose to turn out the internal tank light, your eyes can rest in a comforting darkness that is the same if you open or close them. External sounds are kept to an absolute minimum through extensive soundproofing around the tank room, earplugs, and the design of the tank itself.

Without the need to pay attention to changing stimuli, keep yourself vertical, navigate traffic, or have a conversation (unless with yourself), resources which are otherwise devoted to these and other tasks are free for use in problem solving, creative exploration, learning, or simply meditation, rest, and relaxation.

Emerging from a float is an experience in itself. Senses are sharpened, the mind is refreshed, and the world may appear more vibrant. The feeling is often one of peace, relaxation, happiness, and calm attentiveness. We encourage you to explore this state with a cup of tea in silence or in conversation with our staff in the aromatherapy lounge. The effects of floating last for hours to days afterwards, and have the potential to last much longer.

About the Tank.

The floatation tank, once called a sensory deprivation tank, now called a float spa is approximately 8.5' long by 4' wide, and almost 4' high. Our tanks are the most soundproof on the market, in addition they are lightproof. You will float effortlessly, like a cork, on the surface of 11 inches of water that is super saturated with 1100 Lbs of medical grade Epsom salt. Everyone floats, as it is impossible to sink in a float tank. No led lightshow, no gimmicks, just 100% pure sensory deprivation relaxation.

The temperature in the tank is constantly maintained at 93.5 degrees, the same as your body's skin temperature, thereby creating a neutral temperature environment. Both the weightlessness of your floating body and the water temperature give your brain the illusion that you are suspended in air or floating on a cloud. Your brain waves slow down to theta level, a lovely dream state, and the brain releases endorphins. Floating in a float tank will reduce elevated levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. The Epsom salt solution will pull toxins and lactic acids from your body, aiding in the recovery process and lifting your mood.
